1920s Innovation Compact Wardrobe Trunk

Beautiful patina to the exterior of the case. There is a sticker on the side of the case which reads 'Savoy Hotel London'.The case also has the owner's original card, "Alexandre Chavret". After some investigation, it may be that this gentleman was the Vice President of the Rhine-Rhone society of France in 1849. The case can be transported by a sturdy leather handle. Unlink many wardrobe trunks, this trunk is carried like a suitcase.

The wardrobe trunk includes wooden hangers and a pullout hanger bar. The interior of the case is covered in a red felt fabric which is in excellent condition. 2 drawers extend out from the case and include a chrome metal stay to keep the lid upright while accessing the drawer's contents. The top drawer also has an adjustable strap with the Innovation wordmark along it, used to keep the drawer contents together during transport.

The Innovation Trunk Company began after Seymour W. Bonsall, of New York City, was awarded a patent for a new style trunk, which he first called a "Closet Trunk". He filed for the patent in May 1899 and was awarded the patent in January 1900, which was titled a "Receptacle for Clothing". Seymour sold his patent to a manufacturing group that started Innovation Trunk Company in New York.
